Boundaries

Dominus meus pastor est. The LORD is my superuser. And he has also given us administrative rights over our own lives. Assigning access rights on a computer network is really about putting up boundaries. I'm focusing on the aspect where we, as administrators (stewards?) of our own lives, inadvertedly lock ourselves out of our expression of faith.

Sometimes we give other people extensive rights over or ownership of a faith resource in our lives. Sometimes in an attempt to make ourselves secure we keep ourselves out of something that is rightfully ours.

So in speaking about taking ownership of your faith, I am talking about you beginning to exercise your faith in the manner that God wants you to.

The Superuser

In Computer Science, and more commonly in networking, the person (or computer account) that has unrestricted access to a computer is called a superuser or administrator. The superuser is normally the one who assigns people's access rights to computer resources such as files, folders and printers.

Now occasionally, the administrator either locks himself out of a particular resource (e.g. he denies EVERYONE access including himself) or comes across an account on his network which belonged to another superuser and he doesnt have access to it. That's a real problem.

However, instead of formatting a hard drive to regain control, superusers normally have a functionality that allows them to take ownership of the resource. Then as owner the superuser can reassign the rights correctly.

Series: Taking Ownership of Your Faith

I'm shaking in my boots as I am writing this. The thing is I had planned this series long in advance but have struggled to how to get it going.

This series is really for those who have struggled with their faith in our Lord. The symptoms are manifest in a variety of ways, but I think it is safe to say that the clearest symptom is an internal pain or disillusionment. Or put in other words, you may say to yourself, "If God loves me then why do I feel so damaged?"

So it's not really for everyone. As usual, careful how much you eat of this. In eating of this you may help yourself or you may damage yourself. Or perhaps after eating you can help others to eat well and healthy. Love without simulation.
