The "Faith-full" Doctor

'When the man arrived at the emergency room, it was clear to Dr. Dana King that he was having a heart attack -- and that he was terrified...

"He looked at me like he was looking at me for the first time," King recalled. "A wave of relief came over him. He could see that I was making a connection on a different level. We prayed together, right in the middle of the emergency room. It was a short prayer, but it was just a way to touch someone intimately."...

But King notes, gently, that prayers never replace good medical care, only supplement it. "I try to touch people on a spiritual level in addition to the medical."' (Source).

Zinc Rocks!

Zinc performs variety of useful functions in the body. Here's some info on where to get zinc in your diet.

'Zinc is present in a wide variety of foods, particularly in association with protein foods. A vegetarian diet often contains less zinc than a meat based diet and so it is important for vegetarians to eat plenty of foods that are rich in this vital mineral.

Good sources for vegetarians include dairy products, beans and lentils, yeast, nuts, seeds and wholegrain cereals. Pumpkin seeds provide one of the most concentrated vegetarian food sources of zinc.' (Source).

Alzheimers pinning hope on enzyme?

'New research finds that a natural enzyme may help prevent Alzheimer's disease onset.

Scientists had already known that the enzyme, called Pin1, blocks the formation of tangle-like lesions (tau tangles) common to the brains of people with Alzheimer's.' (Source).

Health is your greatest wealth?

Nobody ever told me to take ownership of my health. I mean complete ownership, not just tit-bits of "do not do this" and "do not do that". Over the past few weeks I have been learning so much about how much health, wealth, emotions, socialising and mental well-being are all interlinked.

Still I am angry at a few people. The short of it is this - I fell ill a long time ago and didnt know it. It was only last year that I began to have suspicions that said "Maybe I'm sick." But now I have confirmed that I am sick and have been for a long time.

The people I am angry at are those who didnt listen to my whining, but instead took advantage of me. But at least now I am taking the steps necessary to recover my health.

And the doctors? They've helped a little but none ever gave me the complete picture and the extent of my illness. Seems like they were hoping I'd just get better and go away. The medication has helped tremendously - in fact, had it not been for the medication I would not have taken the steps necessary for health.

It's funny how much illness can draw so much out of you mentally, emotionally, financially and physically. But the road to recovery is sweet. I think health is your greatest wealth...

One small step...

... for a man, but a giant leap in reality.

Yesterday I took a very significant step which basically assures me income for the rest of my life as of the beginning of April 2006. FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!

I feel rather humbled at the prospect, but is important for my life, the life of those around me and ultimately my family.

Guess who's beaming?
